Spray Prevention Guide for Pipfruit Trees
MAJOR PESTS & DISEASES AFFECTING PIPFRUIT INCLUDE:
Blackspot, powdery mildew, leaf curling midge, pear psylla, blister leaf mite and codling moth.
MINIMAL SPRAY PROGRAMME
WINTER
If mites, scale or aphids have been a problem, apply a dormant oil.
SPRING
Apply Copper oxychloride at bud swell. For varieties susceptible to blackspot and/or powdery mildew, apply Lime Sulphur at petal fall and again at 10-14 days later.
For pears (to control pear psylla and blister leaf mite) apply Conqueror oil at swollen bud stage and again just before flower bud burst.
To control leaf curling midge and codling moth, insecticides or the use of oil or Lime Sulphur should be applied in mid October at 10-14 day intervals.
